Tale 3: Writing is Hard

Recently I have gotten more into writing. I've written short stories in the past (most of which are still not finished) and I've taken writing classes in school but actual writing for pleasure is kinda hard. I've always wanted to be one of those people that goes to a cafe or coffee shop, sits down with their notebook and writes all day while continuously ordering tea; but I never really got the hang of it. To tell you the truth it's mostly because of the fact that I'm distracted easily. I'll start writing and something will cause me to look up from my page and I'll end up people watching instead of actually putting pen to paper. There have been so many stories that are left untold because I start writing them, get distracted, and when I eventually come back I don't remember how I was going to pan out the plot and I just leave it. You can find plenty of notebooks in my house with beginnings of stories but no endings.

So, I decided to try writing poetry and songs. I just started a band with two of my friends and I've been trying to write songs. Let's just say those kids on Glee are geniuses because writing a brilliant song on a short airplane trip is not feasible in really life. Rhyming is HARD! And yes I know that not ALL songs need to rhyme but to me it seems odd to have no rhyming words, so I try my hardest but apparently it's not enough. I will think of a great lyric in my head, write it down and then think of a word that rhymes with the end of the lyric. Let me say that there are words you think would have a lot of rhyming words but don't. Maybe I just don't have a knack for it cause when I think of word to rhyme with heart, my brain thinks, LART, which isn't even a word.

Another problem I have with writing is I'll have a brilliant idea for a story and then have no idea where I'm going with it. Okay, this lady is secretly spying on a club for her boss and writing a book about it. WHY? What is the purpose of writing a book of the clubs secrets? And why is she doing it? OR, this man is afraid of thumbs; ok, he's afraid of thumbs, now what? I have been trying to write a story about South High Theater for two years and I can't think of a plot that has a beginning and an end!

Maybe I should just keep on like this and publish half written books and never write the other half. It will be a game! For only 9.95 get a half written book! YOU can make up the rest of the story yourself! Use your imagination kids!!! Call right now and you'll get a special gift: A Pen to write your story with!

That's all for now,

Tale 2: Recent news

Well, obviously I don't write in my blog a lot. It's been almost 4 months since my last post. I've been super busy with plays, school and college things. Speaking of college I should probably be writing admissions then writing this but I really don't feel like it. And it's a vacation day! MLK everybody. Giving thanks for the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. I haven't really been thinking about that today though. The end of the semester is coming up and I have a lot of homework to get done before Thursday. All I've been doing all day is homework and chores. How fun! Thanks goodness for Pandora radio. Currently I have been listening to Owl City radio. It's pretty good but I don't know how many more whiny male singers I can stand. Soon Nat King Cole is coming out. Then the party will really start. Anyway, this post doesn't really have a point and now I'm rambling. So that's the end.

Tale 1: The Begining

The first post. This post could set the tone for the rest of the blog and yet I don't even know what the blog is about. Maybe there's a theme, maybe I'll just spout random thoughts or tell about my daily life. I could do anything I want. I could probably be talking to nobody. Why did I start a blog in the first place you may ask. I could say it's because I believe that what I have to say is important. But the real reason is because of a whim. I was reading my friend's blog and I had a thought that I could write one. I sat for perhaps 10 minutes thinking of a name and came up with Tales from the Topside. I'm guessing that only two people actually know what I mean by this and probably only one will remember. As for the purpose of this blog, I'm not really sure. Each post will be a tale of some sort. I will probably not post often and when I do it won't be exciting. If you do read each and every post I thank you and tell you to find a more interesting thing to use up your time. Let the journey start.
